Truly Independent Candidates

I'm an independent voter who feels the two major parties are doing a poor job of representing the majority of citizens. I also feel like the parties have become so polarized that they no longer seriously work to find common ground on issues. And yes many times they throw common sense out the door for partisan reasons. Although I completely understand that political parties help get candidates elected, ideally candidates should truly be independent thinkers, not beholden to their parties. The party system itself seems to corrupt candidates over time. Ideally voters themselves should be independent to vote whatever candidate at that moment in time best represents their values and ideas. For this reason I'm not sure I would like registering under your party. But I see the need for a movement that chooses candidates based on their individual ideas, character and willingness to both listen, work with others and think independently to decide what is best for all of us. I hope that this idea catches more attention.
