Have you read Abundance by Klein and Thompson? I think the vision it lays out is compelling. They explain how various liberal-led “protections” (labor, environmental, etc.) have hamstrung society’s ability to achieve big things. And government’s self-inflicted inability to achieve results leads people to channel their frustration toward insurgents like Trump. Sacramento has shown interest over the last few years in extricating itself from this problem, but without enough urgency. Democrats are too beholden to environmental, labor, and tenant groups, and Republicans are too influenced by MAGA. We need a campaign to unleash California’s productive forces along the lines that Klein and Thompson describe.
