Open Policy Discussion

When Democrats gerrymander (see Massachusetts, Illinois, Maryland, New York) the response is muted or non-existent. When Republicans do it, it’s the end of Democracy. As with all wars, escalation on one side results in escalation on the other side. When Democrats waived the filibuster to pack the DC Circuit Court, Republicans waived the filibuster for the Supreme court. every time a restraining norm is breached, harm results. Democrats in California want to move from holding 85% of the congressional seats to 93%. In general, the partisan divide is 60/40. California voters decided 60/40 to have a non-partisan commission do the job. The Democrats manipulated the process to gain 85% of the seats. Now, we have to breach that leaky norm to get more. When our effort to push taxpayers out of the State results in the loss of seats in 2030 and the red states finish retaliating, our escalation will have backfired.

    Dear Luis,
It is great to hear from you! Thank you for posting your views on this, and for standing up for the principle that elected officials are to serve the people, not a political party.
And thanks for all you’ve done for the Common Sense Party of California.
    Kindly,
    Tom
