I fully support the nonpartisan California redistricting process. It is a model that should be implemented nationwide. Unfortunately, we have a President who continues to ignore and abuse our Constitution. He is being aided and abetted by the Congressional Republicans. The stakes in the 2026 election are too high to not respond the the Republican effort in Texas. Oftentimes good politics is not good governance. This is an exception. It is up to the voters of California to decide if they approve of the Governor’s plan. The initiative process is democratic.
Gerrymandering needs to done away with at national level
Gerrymandering is a Huge problem and it needs to fixed in ALL states simultaneously otherwise we...

Dear Arne,
Good to hear from you! The “initiative process is democratic” is a correct statement. But there are built-in guard-rails in any functioinng democracy to preserve minority points of view. Otherwise, we could have an at-large Legislature in California elected by all of us instead of district-by-district. It would be democratic–and Democratic. People of other parties of good will would be shut out entirely. So, I’m leery of statewide referenda directed at excluding minority viewpoints; and, to me, that’s what this proposal does, by design.
Kindly,
Tom
