Like many independents, I support our current system for determining political districts–though 10 years between map-drawing might be too long. That said, the current administration, propped up and taking its orders from Project 2025, is using every sleazy trick in the book to stack Congress with Republicans. Not only TX now, but MO, FL and several other states are using their Red majorities to gerrymander. I do not like it. But the Dems have been so impotent in the face of this regime that redrawing our congressional district lines might be the only thing that saves the US and our democracy from a complete capitulation to the forces of the Christian Nationalists, erosion of our hard-won civil liberties, destruction of our cultural institutions and national parklands and a return to standards not suffered by a majority of Americans for decades. I don’t like it. But I’m afraid it’s a tool we need to use to save our way of life.
