Open Policy Discussion

In 1967, the forebay of the the San Luis Dam was constructed at a cost of 39 million dollars ( 377 milllion in today’s dollars ). It allowed water to be pumped behind the dam when power was available, and released to generate power when it was needed. California, due to it’s heavy emphasis on solar power, has a massive power glut during the summer months from about noon to 4pm.

In my opinion, we’d be better off creating such a forebay on the Sites dam with the money that Sacramento wants to spend on the special election. It would benefit all Californians, rather than disenfranchising that fraction of the population that doesn’t vote the D ticket. We spent good money to set up the independent process and create a map. Even if we were running a surplus instead of a 68 billion dollar deficit, it’s wrong to disenfrancise citizens.
